We had a great virtual session presented by our President, Duc. Duc discussed with us what a grow-out is and what breed of Koi we will be getting this year. Additionally, we talked about all the activities coming up this here (check out the activities planned so far at Club Events).
For those that do not know about our upcoming grow-out event, we will be getting some special Koi coming from Torazo Koi Farm. These will be a special breed of Karashigoi that has a unique apple benigoi. This is accomplished by cross-breeding a female Karashigoi with a male Kohaku. The purpose for this crosss breed is to have the ability to produce very large (36in - 42in) koi at a young age of around 5 years, depending on feeding and pond conditions. The Club has acquired a small number of these Koi for purchase by our members as a way to allow the club hobbyists an opportunity to grow these fine Japanese Koi. These Koi are available to order now at our Club Store (available to active members) at a very reasonable price - but once they are gone, that's it!
The koi are being quarantined and wintered in the US by our dealer friend, Kyodai, in Kentucky. They will be shipped to Colorado in April and will be available for pick-up at the April Club Meeting - Grow out Selection - make sure to get your Koi ordered now before they are all gone!
